Music and Me
When meeting new people, the conversation naturally follows a rhythm—“Where are you from?” “What do you do?” My answer is always the same: “I’m a musician.” And when asked what I play, I reply, “Piano, drums, and bass—but piano is my favorite.”
Introduced to me by my mother, an opera singer and lover of the arts, the piano has been a lifelong companion. After she passed, it became even more than an instrument—it became a way to stay connected to her.
My relationship with music has evolved from childhood garage band experiments to intense studies at SUNY Purchase, where I pursued both undergraduate and master’s degrees. Seeking a deeper connection to my instrument, I stepped away from pure composition to learn the craft of piano itself, earning an apprenticeship at Steinway. I loved taking a hands on approach to the piano and it led me to open my own Tuning and Repair business, which keeps me busy and my skills “in tune” between musical gigs here in NYC. Pun intended.
My interests span video game composition, licensing, and scoring films, and keeping up with my Swedish and Japanese language studies; but the piano remains at the center of it all.
